The park of Cernay was one of the first stork reintroduction centers in Alsace. Today this bird, symbol of Alsace and of the town, flies again in the sky of Cernay There are today about thirty sedentary couples living all the year long in the park.

The path of the Mines in Steinbach | |
Starting from the Silberthal, way-out of the village of Steinbach, three marked paths completed with technical information guide the visitor in the steps of the diggers.
The path of the Erzenbach iron-mines: go in the picturesque and wild glen of the Erzenbach site looking for the vestiges of the former iron-mines. They were in work during the 18th and 19th centuries until the beginning of the 20th century. Length 2 hours
The path of the Scheltzenbourg mines: surrounded by a beautiful and outstanding nature, the walker is then carried more than 7 centuries back, looking for the treasured silver ore in one of the most important mediaeval mines of the Vosges Length : less than an hour
The path of the Saint Nicolas mine: some vestiges at surface level are still evidences of the hard work needed to operate the iron and lead mines Length : less than an hour

The Donnerloch mine, an exploitation at the heart of the Middle Age. After the first years of excavation it clearly appeared that the major part of the mining had been done around 1982. Active since 1982 in Steinbach, the association « Les Trolls » realised a succession of authorized operations to get a deeper knowledge of the entire mining ground: historical research studies, map making of all of the former working traces, digs on the site....

The exploitation of the well reputed Alsatian potash mines has now stopped, but many sites still exist today.
