Hill walking

Following the important and well marked out network of footpaths the Vosges Mountains are covered with, the walker will get a line of the orchards, vineyards, mountains and the other wonders of our region

 Mountain Bike

With a huge amount of marked out tracks for both the novice and the experienced cyclist, Cernay and its surroundings are the perfect place for mountain bike lovers.

A free leaflet presenting 3 mountain bike tracks, depart from cernay, is available by simple request at the tourist board

Those tracks are also in a « topo guide » containing 19 tracks in the Thur Valley. This guide is on sale for 5€ ( + p&p )

 Cycle touring

Between the vineyard and the mountains, many bicycle paths stride the region for the greatest pleasure of the bicycle touring lovers.

A free map is available by simple request at the tourist board.

« Cycle touring » and the local patrimony are two things deeply related  to one another. Therefore Cernay's tourist board ( in partnership with the tourist boards of Masevaux, Saint Amarin and Thann) suggests you the “topocyclo”: a guidebook containing a variety of 12 cycle trails from 36km to 117km (22 to 73 miles) with variant difficulties . Whether you're looking for a simple leisurely ride with the family or a more sportive and touristy ride this enables you a large choice of activities

 Rock climbing

 The 35 meter high climbing spot “Hirnelestein” is tailor-made for climbing,  equipped with 18 ways by the FFME (French federation for mountain and climbing), it is basically designed for the climbing initiation.

The climbers, associations and other groups get a perfect resource for their pleasure and training.

Access : From Mulhouse, take the N66 until Cernay then pass through  the town to go to Steinbach. Go to the top of the village. The road becomes a carriage above Steinbach way and leads you to the Silberthal park. Right to the skittle range, a pathway goes up in the forest. Follow the grey cuckoo feathers. They will lead you in 12 minutes  to the “Hirnelestein” climbing spot topped with its balustrade.

 Fishing

 Many spots are available for fisher:

Pond downstream the Nonnenbruch river (next to Cernay): open every days in July and August to every fisher with 2 fishing rods, from the sun up to the sundown. The guard on duty sells daily fishing cards for 7€.

Thur river:

  • Fishing« holiday » card for 39€ (without the piscicultural fee) are usable between the 1st June and 31st September inclusive, during 15 consecutive days as from the date of purchase.
  • Daily card for 16,60€ (without the piscicultural fee)
  • AAPPMA card (yearly card)
